By Tony DelgadoSunday - February 14th, 2010Categories: chess

I’ve decided to post one chess game a day for an entire year. It’s called The Chess 365 Project. Hopefully I’ll win more than I lose, but at the very least it’ll give me more chess experience and keep me playing quite a bit. Here’s day 45:

Tony Delgado vs. amapizen on correspondence chess by Chess.com Sometimes people resign a little too early. This is especially true at the level of chess that I’m playing. Probably Class D at best. Here’s an example of a game I played recently. This guy didn’t recapture when he was supposed to and ended up down a minor piece. At that point he figured his best course was to resign. He must have thought a lot of me to not think I would blunder for the rest of the game…which I’ve done many times and so have my opponents. Oh well! Enjoy this game/

The Chess 365 Project: Day 37 — Tony Delgado vs. georgemark

Tony Delgado vs. georgemark on correspondence chess by Chess.com Normally, I don’t post games in which one side completely dominated the other as it’s not very entertaining or instructional. However, I thought this game was amusing because it illustrated just how quickly a poor move can make you lose a game immediately. A couple of things:

1. This is a thematic game based around the gruenfeld defense. So, we had a starting position and the initial three moves were already made for us.
2. We played 4 more moves before he resigned.
3. This certainly illustrates the danger of having a weak center, especially while your king is in the center! It allowed me to fork his rook and king right after his initial blunder which lost his queen! He had to immediately resign at that point.

Enjoy this short but amusing game. Right now we’re playing our rematch and I may post that at a future date.
