Tunes for Tuesday: La Camisa Negra

One of my favorite musicians lately is Juanes. I’ve purchased two of his albums and played them to death. Even though I don’t actually speak spanish, I’m into Latin music. Maybe this is some subconcious desire for me to actually be Puerto Rican since no one would know my ethnic background if they were to look at me. Well, whatever the reason I like Juanes and I like this song so enjoy! It is off of his album “Mi Sangre ”

Tunes for Tuesday: How to Survive in South Central

In the not too distant past, I watched Boyz in the Hood for the first time. I thought it was an amazing piece of work, especially for a first time director. Listening to the commentary, John Singleton was both interesting and informative. I also recently watched Mario Van Peebles’ New Jack City. For some reason, African American cinema from the early nineties seems to be on my radar lately. I’ve added Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and Baby Boy to my Netflix queue. Anyway, since it’s on my mind, here’s some Ice Cube performing the song from Boyz in the Hood, “How to Survive in South Central.”
